There are two major categories of coffee beans: Arabica and Robusta. Arabica beans are cultivated in high altitudes and make up about 70% of the world’s coffee production. Arabica beans are also considered a higher quality bean than Robusta, which is why they make up the majority of specialty coffee. On the other hand, Robusta beans are usually grown at lower altitudes and are more bitter-tasting beans than Arabica.
