Golf has been around for centuries, but the game has changed over the years. In addition, golf courses have also changed over time and now exist in many different forms. Some are easier to play than others, and some accommodate players of various skills and abilities. Most people are familiar with the executive course, but there are others, too!

With the establishment of the first Open Championship in 1860 and the formation of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America in 1916, golf really took off as a sport.

Basically, there are three different types of golf courses: public, private, and resort. Public courses are open to the public, usually for a fee. Private courses are owned by members who pay dues to use them. Resort courses are designed to attract tourists who wish to play golf during their vacations. Golfers can choose from a variety of courses when they want to enjoy a game on the links. Each type is designed to challenge golfers in a different way.

What is the difference between these types of golf courses? We’ve put together this interesting infographic for each type of golf course to help you decide which one is right for you.
