Snakes are everywhere but there are a few countries that are home to more snakes than others. Ireland comes on top of this list which has 450 species of snakes with 70 venomous and 380 non-venomous ones. Brazil comes second with a total of 412 snake species of which 62 are poisonous while 350 are non-poisonous. Mexico has 381 species of snakes with only 7 venomous ones and 374 non-venomous ones. Columbia has 300 different snake species with 49 venomous and 251 non-venomous. India is also a snake hub with .270 species in total with 60 venomous and 210 non-venomous. Lastly, Australia has a lot of snakes with 100 venomous and 72 non-venomous species. 

Number of Venomous Snake Species in the United States

As stated earlier, snakes can be venomous or non-venomous. The number of venomous snake species in a particular country is a concerning figure for the authorities as well. As far as the US is concerned, the Rattlesnake is highly found with 16 venomous snake species all over the country. 2 venomous species of Coral Snakes are also found in the US. Copperheads and Cottonmouths each have 1 species of venomous snake. You don’t have to worry a lot as these snakes are in either extremely wild areas such as forests or kept by the authorities. 

U.S. States with the Most Venomous Species

We don’t mean to scare you but this is a reality. The US is one of the biggest hubs for different types of snakes spread widely in highly populated areas. Over 17 venomous species of snakes are found in Arizona alone. In Texas, there are 15 most venomous species of snakes. New Mexico and Alabama come next in this list with 10 – 13 most venomous snake species. Mississippi, California, Georgia, and Oklahoma are a few of the most populated states of the US and each of them has 10 different most venomous species of snakes. South Carolina and Missouri are the last ones on this list with almost 8 most venomous species of snakes.
