Julius Caesar is a well-known name and figure all over the world, with his actions and decisons directly influencing the Roman Empire and shaping the world we live in today. Like most legendary figures, there are many hyperboles surrounding the history of Caesar, with one claim being that he was known never to lose a battle. While it is true that Caesar usually won on the battlefield, he certainly had a few defeats to his name as well. 

However, the victories of Caesar are quite impressive, with the triumph at Alesia going down among the greatest strokes of military genius in history. When he would lose, it was usually against armies much larger than his own; even then he would try all the tactics possible to turn the tide in his favor. 

There were also some battles with mixed results, so the loss or victory of either side depended on how you look at it. Overall, though, the battle record of Julius Caesar is an extensive one, with the Gallic Wars being the beginning of what would become the Roman Empire.
